Cowley Manor
We went to Cowley Manor a few months ago but I thought I would pop some photos up as it would be lovely in this glorious weather if any of my readers wanted to go.
We booked through Mr and Mrs Smith who we are members of and got an awesome deal. Dinner, bed and breakfast with a spa treatment each thrown in for good measure. We also received a surprise gift which was in our room when we arrived, a Green and Spring (Cowley’s spa product range) handwash.
The hotel is easy enough to find with sat nav and has a lovely approach up to it with sweeping lawns and lakes.
We had booked a ‘good’ room which was more than adequate. We had thought about booking a ‘better’ room in the stable block but in the end didn’t as we wanted to be in the main house and have a room on one floor, not spread out over three as they are in the stable block.
The room was clean and although some say the rooms now look dated I still thought it was nice, the bathroom was enormous and kitted out with huge bottles of Green and Spring toiletries which you couldn’t take home but were able to use in the room.
After settling into our room we borrowed some wellies and went for a wander around the grounds.
We had lunch at the Green Dragon Inn, only a five minute walk away, great food and very cosy. After eating ourselves silly we decided to discover the Manor. We played snooker and then sat and read magazines and played Monopoly.
After a long soak in the bath we headed down the dinner with a cocktail first in the bar. The dining room is quite modern and very stark but with candles lit it still manages to be quite romantic. The food was good, nothing special or to rave about but nice all the same.
Breakfast the next morning was good with a decent selection and English breakfasts cooked to order. After breakfast we had a look around the Cowley Manor Village shop which stocks Anya Hindmarch, Heidi Klein and J Brand to name just a few. I bought a gold leather cuff which I’ve already worn loads. We then headed over to the spa where we each had a massage. It was too cold to swim in the outdoor pool and the indoor pool was rife with children so we gave it a miss. The spa would have been much better if it was adults only, Cowley take note! Our massages were heavenly anyway and we felt rejuvenated for our shopping trip to Bicester on the way home.
